Susanne Cipolla Olmos specializes in complex deportation/removal and family-based cases representing clients in matters before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and other appropriate tribunals. Her immigration law expertise encompasses stays of removal, the immigration consequences of criminal convictions, asylum, establishing eligibility of relief, family-based adjustment of status, and finding ways to reopen supposedly hopeless cases.
Ms Olmo earned her BS in Accounting from New York University in 1988 and her JD from Boston University Law School in 1994. She has been a licensed member of the New York State Bar Association since 1994.
Prior to joining the Root Law Group, Ms Olmos was Principal Attorney of the Law Office of Susanne Cipolla Olmos, where her practice focused on deportations/removals, family-based immigration, employment matters, waivers and the applicability of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) to immigration issues. Before starting her own practice, Ms Olmos was Senior Associate and Managing Attorney at the law office of a well-known and respected Los Angeles-based immigration attorney. In this capacity, she prepared and filed family and employment non-immigrant and immigrant petitions; represented clients on matters adjudicated by EOIR, BIA, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS); researched and drafted briefs for cases before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals; resolved complex cases with USCIS and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE); and negotiated the release of detained aliens.
The descendant of an immigrant family from Sicily which entered the United States from Ellis Island in the early 1900s, Ms. Olmos grew up in Queens, NY. She now lives in Venice, CA with her husband, three daughters, and two dogs. Outside of zealously defending the rights of her clients, her passions include cooking, film, reading, keeping fit (through circuit-training, running and yoga), and spending time with family and friends.
