In response to a recent American Immigration Lawyers Association inquiry, the State Department provided this update on Schedule A visa number availability:
"We currently have approximately 20,000 Schedule A numbers remaining. I expect the category to remain "current" through the end of FY-2006. I will probably need to establish a cut-off date at some point during the first quarter of FY-2007. All this is subject to change should there be a dramatic change in the current demand pattern."
